Lord Jesus,
teach me to be a cheerful giver:
teach me to be like St. Lawrence
your deacon and martyr we honor
today who gave himself totally
and cheerfully to you because
he felt strongly the overflowing
abundance of your grace
and blessings to him;
many times we are reluctant
to give our time, treasures,
and talents because we feel
always lacking;
open our very selves
to find you and your blessings
within so that
we freely give and share
whatever we have
to continue serving in your name;
most of all,
teach me to give more of myself
like a grain of wheat that dies
and produces much fruit in you.
Amen.

St. Lawrence, Martyr and Deacon,
pray for us!
